Goals
- Filling the void left by the disappearance of Foursquare City Guide and the reduced gamification of Swarm
- Generate a unique illustrated stamp for each building, wood engraving style, from a photo of the user
- Rewarding world discoveries first with a permanent and nominative collectible card
- Launch first in heritage-dense cities like Lisbon, Porto, Brussels, Vienna and Amsterdam
Stamp is a project I'm building at the moment: a cross-platform mobile application that gamifies urban exploration, where each monument becomes a unique illustrated stamp, and where being the first person in the world to register a place engraves your name forever.*
Filling the check-in void left by Foursquare and Swarmm
When Foursquare closed its City Guide at the end of 2024 and Swarm quietly abandoned most of its gamification, a real void appeared. Millions of people who loved recording the places they visited suddenly found themselves with no destination, and no reason to continue.. The opportunity was obvious, but so was the trap. The world doesn't need yet another generic check-in app. He needs something designed for one purpose: to discover and collect architecture and heritage, with a reason to come back tomorrow.. The people left behind by these closures were not casual users. These were the explorers and heritage lovers who took real pleasure in recording each place they visited, and who lost both track of their journeys and the motivation to continue. Replacing a generic news feed wouldn't be enough; the missing piece was that sense of progression and ownership that makes each new place worth visiting..
An AI stamp collection loop for urban exploratione
Stamp is designed around a single satisfying loop. You walk past a building, you get a notification, you take a photo. If you are the first visitor in the world, an AI generates a unique woodcut illustration from your photo, and this stamp becomes the official and permanent map of this place, in your name..
- A rarity system, from common to legendary, that rewards explorers who reach places no one else has discovered;;- An explorer profile that transforms your journeys into levels, titles and statistics;;- A shared map built like Waze was: everyone collects for themselves while enriching the same world for everyone else.. What makes the loop satisfying is that the reward is tied to the location itself. Because the photo of the first visitor becomes the official and permanent map of a building, in its name, arriving early really counts. The woodcut-style illustration is designed to remain consistent across the entire map, so that a collection reads as a coherent whole rather than a file of clichés.. The rarity system and the explorer profile reinforce each other: commonplaces maintain day-to-day habit, while rarer discoveries give committed explorers a longer-term goal..
Launch the Stamp app in heritage citiess
Stamp is in active development, with first launches planned in heritage-dense cities like Lisbon, Porto, Brussels, Vienna and Amsterdam. The foundations are already in place: a cross-platform application, a geospatial backend and an AI pipeline that produces a consistent and instantly recognizable timbre for any building on Earth.. Starting with cities with dense heritage is a deliberate choice, not an already completed deployment. Cities like Lisbon, Porto, Brussels, Vienna, and Amsterdam concentrate distinctive architecture in walkable areas, which should give early explorers plenty to discover and collect in the first few sessions. The goal is to start the shared map where there is most to find, then let it expand as more people contribute.. The objective is simple. Make exploring your own city, or a new one, feel like collecting rare pieces..
Frequently asked questionss
What is Stamp??
Stamp is a cross-platform mobile application, currently in development at Numinam, which gamifies urban exploration. It transforms the buildings you encounter into collectible AI-illustrated maps, so that discovering architecture and heritage becomes something you can record, collect and return to..
How are collectible stamps generated??
When you walk past a building and take a photo, an AI pipeline generates a woodcut-style illustration from that photo. If you are the first visitor in the world to register the place, your stamp becomes the official and permanent map of this building, in your name. The pipeline is designed to produce a consistent and instantly recognizable style across buildings..
Why is it worth being first??
Stamp rewards global discoveries first. The first visitor's artwork becomes the permanent map of a place, and a rarity system, from common to legendary, distinguishes explorers who reach places no one else has discovered. An explorer profile then transforms your journeys into levels, titles and statistics..
When and where will Stamp launch??
Stamp is in active development and has not yet launched. The first launches are planned in heritage-dense cities like Lisbon, Porto, Brussels, Vienna and Amsterdam, with the shared map set to expand from there over time.
